an Optical manufacturing company was founded in Jena, Germany in 1846. They started by producing microscope optics and by World War One, they were the largest camera production facility. Zeiss, named after the founder Carl Zeiss, has been one of the oldest and highly regarded camera lens manufactures in the professional camera world.

Zeiss has revolutionized optics for DSLR’s with Distagon and Planar lens. These lens come with the famous Zeiss “T,” anti-reflective coating, which allows close to 100% light transmission, increasing contrast and sharpness while allowing little to no light-loss. The Distagon series of wide-angle lens such as the 28mm and 35mm are at an F/2 and with their floating lens elements, they maintain consistency of focus across all distances. The 50mm f/1.4 Planar, captures natural looking photos in many different lighting conditions and performs well when stopping down. The amazing Planar 85mm f/1.4 creates amazing bokeh and even fully wide, it will attain a shallow depth of field; something that is not often found in other 85mm lens of lesser quality.
