An old farmhouse holds more than memories as it's new occupants are soon to discover...

Meet Simon Brubaker! Director of "The House Has Good Bones"

CCR: What was your favorite part about being on set and leading the production of "The House Has Good Bones?"

Brubaker: My favorite part of leading the production of "The House Has Good Bones" was seeing the positivity and creativity of my crew come to life. I felt like I was asking everyone a pretty big favor to work late into the night on a weekend but once everyone got there, we all had a great time and everyone was working toward one goal while bringing their own ideas and insight to the production. I had a very clear idea of what I wanted to accomplish but other people contributed things that I hadn't thought of that flushed out the ideas and made them more interesting and that collaboration was so fun.

CCR: Were there any challenges you faced on set? How did you overcome them?

Brubaker: The first day of shooting was just myself and my actress, co writer, and fiance Elizabeth - the world's smallest production. And while it was fun to just run around with the camera and play with ideas we didn't get through as many set ups as I would have liked. Being a two-person crew was definitely a challenge. Once we had a small crew on set, we were much more efficient and I could delegate a bit which was great.

CCR: Now that production is complete, what are you looking forward to most in the post-production process?

Brubaker: There is no dialogue in this short, so it relies heavily on sound design. I would say sound design and color grading are the two parts of post production I'm most excited about.

CCR: Anything else you'd like to share about the process or shooting weekend?

Brubaker: I had the best time on our shoot days and can't thank my crew enough for coming out and being a part of my little film. I also can't thank Don and CCR enough for giving us all this opportunity, it was such a blast and forced me to execute on an idea which otherwise might have stayed an idea.
